How to import an ICS file to iPhone Calendar

Move a downloaded .ics schedule into the calendar on your iPhone without recreating events one by one.

Quick answer

Save the `.ics` file in Files, open ICSKit, select the file, check the events, choose your destination calendar and tap to add them.

Import an ICS file on iPhone in six steps

  1. Download or save the calendar file.

Keep the `.ics` extension and save the file somewhere you can find in the Files app.

  2. Open ICSKit.

Choose the option to add an ICS file to your calendar.

  3. Select the file.

Browse iCloud Drive, On My iPhone or your Downloads folder.

  4. Check the event details.

Look at titles, dates, times and time zones before importing.

  5. Choose the destination calendar.

Pick the work, personal or other calendar where the events belong.

  6. Add the events.

Complete the import, then open Calendar to confirm the result.

Import from Mail, Safari or Files

From an email attachment

Open the attachment menu and save the file to Files. If iOS offers only a preview, return to the share menu and use Save to Files instead of trying to add each event from the preview.

From Safari

After downloading, tap Safari’s download indicator or open Files and look in Downloads. The filename should end in `.ics`; if it was renamed, restore the extension before selecting it.

From iCloud Drive

You can leave the file in any iCloud Drive folder. In ICSKit’s file picker, browse to that location and select it.

What if the ICS file contains multiple events?

A single ICS file can contain one event or a complete schedule. Multi-event files are common for classes, sports fixtures, conferences and shift plans. ICSKit is designed to import ICS files and create or export files with multiple events, so you do not need to rebuild the schedule manually.

Have the file on your phone?

Use the guide immediately: open the file with ICSKit, inspect the events and add them to your chosen calendar.

Get ICSKit on the App Store

If the import does not work

First confirm that the file is fully downloaded and still ends in `.ics`. If it opens but shows no useful action, save it to Files and select it from inside ICSKit. If the file is invalid, use the editor and validator to inspect it before trying again.

Import or subscribe? Importing creates calendar events from a file. Subscribing follows a calendar URL and can receive later updates. If you were given a web address rather than a downloaded file, Apple’s subscription flow may be the better fit.
